Contracts Administrator
Tomsons, a trading company specializing in chemicals, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Contracts Administrator to join our team. The Contracts Administrator will be responsible for mitigating economic, operational, legal, and regulatory risk associated with commodity transactions by drafting and dispatching contracts reflecting all agreed economic and non-economic terms.
The Contracts Administrator will also be responsible for reviewing and confirming broker and counterparty confirmations while promptly escalating discrepancies to the Front Office for resolution. Additionally, the Contracts Administrator will be expected to actively follow up on outstanding confirmations, establish and maintain strong working relationships with the Front Office, and proactively identify opportunities to further streamline processes and improve productivity.
Specific job duties include confirming all completed transactions are valid deals, ensuring all trade confirmations are drafted, issued, and executed in accordance with procedures, checking incoming counterparty confirms for errors, and sending responses as needed. The Contracts Administrator will also be responsible for liaising with Legal, Credit, Operations, and other support partners to ensure any additional terms are properly incorporated into contracts and responding timely to any external queries on confirmations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in the numerate or semi-numerate subject (engineering, math, accounting, economics) or relevant experience in a related field, familiarity and understanding of working with contracts and/or energy markets, minimum 1-2 years of experience in a trading environment, and Portuguese and/or Spanish language skills highly preferred.
The candidate should have an understanding of the financial implications associated with the movement of a physical product, be capable of assessing contractual risk and making decisions accordingly and have excellent communication skills. In addition, the candidate should be self-motivated, proactive in problem-solving, highly organized, a self-starter, able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, have an analytical approach to data, be adaptable, and seek to continuously build knowledge.
Additional Information
The Contracts Administrator will be responsible for updating and maintaining procedures documents and participating in the testing of system and process upgrades. The candidate should be proficient in document administration in Microsoft Word.
